I have been on the hunt for a perfect lacey window curtain for quite some time now. I fell in love with this (amazing) photo some weeks ago and couldn’t find anything similar. Until now. For only a few bucks, I scored this over the weekend at the thrift store during their 50% off sale. I may or may not be taking a lot of photos with this little curtain. Fair warning :)
Maxi skirt surgery
I thrifted this extra-extra-large leopard/animal print skirt maybe a year ago, I could wear it since it had a tie-string but all that extra fabric really weighted it down.
So finally I got my sewing cap on and cut off a huge chunk (practically in the middle) and made one simple stitch to patch it back up.
No tie-string necessary…
Originally, this was supposed to be a high-low skirt, but I don’t think I’ll be able to make another cut in it. I like it as is – boho chic goodness :)
Mirror, Mirror – Adventures in Thrifting
I haven’t been to a thrift store ALL Summer. So, it was time to end the withdrawals. I was a bit disappointed with the selections around here and didn’t come home with many things, but two mirrors.
First thrift store presented the small desk mirror. It’s really cool with a round tilt mirror and was only ONE dollar. Score!
The second thrift store was kind of a shot in the dark. I was on the verge of not going there at all, but decided against my ~*bad judgement. As I was about to walk out, I noticed this mirror up against some frames. The price tag in the corner read $8 – sweet price so I grabbed it. Upon checkout, the lady told me it would be 75% off making the price only $2.19! Complete steal, a mirror this size (about 24×24) would be close to $80 at any other store.
This successful trip to the thrift stores scored me two awesome mirrors that will sit nicely on my new dresser, which I have yet to buy.
Do you have any recent thrift scores? Please share!
PS. Happy Monday :)
Kitschy thrift finds
Weekends are for thrifting, and this weekend that is exactly what I did. I made a visit to my usual hangouts but I also ventured out to the nearby city just to hit up Salvation Army. I’ve never been there before and was pretty surprised how large it was. Very overwhelming at first, lots of clothes and items to look through. If you look hard enough, you’ll be able to find gold in a pile of dirt. I think I found some high-quality items on the cheaps. A happy haul :)
Funky ceramic tiles – I just love these designs! $0.75 each

Large tin box, currently storing some jewelry I’ve made – $0.65

Fancy top $0.90 and fancy skirt $3.50

The fancy top has a tear on the back around the neck area but it’s nothing that can’t be fixed. The tag reads Susan Hutton but I wasn’t able to find anything mind-blowing about that. The skirt is high quality from The Limited, it was the priciest of all the items I purchased but very well worth it! I love the fall-ish/spring-ish print, can’t wait to layer it up!
I’m not always lucky when it comes to thrifting, I think it differs for everyone. Depends how you feel that day or what catches your eye. Sometimes I find a lot of good things closer to the city but recently I’ve been leaving empty handed (womp!) – and vice versa here in the burbs. Many of these thrift shops are church oriented and run by older folks, hard to find anything “hip” if you like. Considering I found these items in the burbs and they’re right up my alley, I think we’re moving on up! haha
What do you look for when thrifting?
Camera roll
I hope everyone had a great weekend, it’s already August, whoa!!! Here are some random shots from my iPod over the weekend, mostly interesting bits from the thrift store.
pretty neat Super 8 camera | ahhhmazing velvet green bench (I didn’t even look at the price!)

Doggy love

Anyone else getting tired of this 90 degree weather?! I looove going to the pool but it’s getting exhausting (I have a pretty good tan now though.) Today is all about figuring out how I’m gonna keep myself busy this week. Definitely restocking the Etsy shop in a couple of days, and maybe doing a DIY! And probably eagerly anticipating the goodies I bought last week, aaahh!
PS: discovered a new *free* photo editing app BeFunky – love it!
Tale of weekend-long shopping adventure
Instagram story time!!!
So tired – this weekend seemed to be the longest weekend ever! To be honest, I’m exhausted. I spent the whole weekend with my sister, we were actually hoping for some pool weather but it was more like winter jacket weather. Ew. Anyways, we did a lot of shopping around, I’m all shopped out!

I got these awesome platform wedges for only $15!!! My own little version of the Jeffrey Campbell platforms, I am more than happy! Now, where should I wear these babies?!

So inspired – got a lot of inspiration while shopping & visiting Smitten (aka Ashley) and Carol at Trend Cellar. I got a few cute things there and now I’ll be making some necklaces for Carol’s new boutique. Lots and lots to do!

So thrifty – managed to squeeze in a mini thriftventure on Sunday. I walked away with a few things — a lovely clutch/bag in brand new condition (I still can’t get over it!), a one dollar bracelet/bangle and two bow pins that I’ll be putting up on Etsy later this week! :)
Viki thanks you for your time – have an awesome week!!!!

Thrift treasures from this weekend
This weekend’s thriftventure was a success, I got a few every day kind of things – tops and shorts. Here are a few purchases that I’m really really happy with. All STEALS!
Two super cute dreamcatcher-y necklaces that I can’t stop gushing over! One for Smitten and one for Hazel ;)

Best purchase of the day: green velvet dress – what a beauty!!!!

Posting a picture of the dress on a hanger would not do it justice, it’s so effortless but makes you look and feel like a million bucks. I especially love the low back but it’s all covered up in front. Perfection!
In other news – I made a couple new necklaces that I’ll be sharing a little bit later today ;)
All about this pouch
I would call this a thrift treasure but I don’t really know where it came from. I snagged this from my mom’s room (she just had it hanging and used it to store pens haha) – I think the main purpose of this little pouch is to hold sunglasses, even though mine barely fit.
However, this would be great to hold cash or a cellphone without a clunky bag… and that’s probably what I’ll be using this little baggy for :)

Recent thrift purchases
Hello! Happy Tax Day! (even though Monday is already over – today has been quite the roller coaster)

I realized I haven’t stopped by any thrift store recently so after work, I made a swift dash for one (thinking it would start raining/snowing, or what have you.. it hasn’t) – I was lucky enough to buy a couple of things and I’m really excited about them, yay!

Pictured above is a lovely little cross-body bag, a steal for just $3 – after I got it home I noticed the leather was a bit ripped by one of the straps. Nothing a little hot glue can’t fix though!
Below is what I’m most happy with. This arrowhead necklace is something straight out of Erin Wasson’s jewelry box. It’s kinda bad ass… at a bad ass price of just $2!

I also got a large 16×20 frame for $2 that I’ll be using to take some pictures of prints to put up on Etsy.
Have a super nice week everyone! ;)
Adventures in basement diving
Dug out this beauty yesterday from my mom’s basement, she got it for a penny from one of her patients some time ago. The weather was gorgeous all weekend, we have been teased and now it looks like it might even snow towards the end of the week. WHAT now?!

Everyone was out doing something – like riding bikes, I decided to take this out and clean it up. I’m now looking to get a basket for the front to hang on the handlebars. It definitely needs some love there, I’m leaning towards the modern black basket but those wicker baskets are to die for! Picnic anyone?

Top 3 baskets from Target, bottom left Walmart, bottom right Kmart
My bum is a little sore today and I’m not sure why, I only did a spin around the block. This bike is heavier than modern bikes and a little wobbly when riding. Will take some time getting used to. Needless to say, I’m planning tons of bike rides this Summer :D
