Retail Inspiration: Free People Chicago

July 15, 2012 / Leave a comment?

When my sister told me they had a Free People at Water Tower Place, of course I wanted to go! I didn’t buy anything, and honestly didn’t take any pictures – it felt kinda weird and I was distracted by pretty things and mobiles hanging from the ceiling.

It’s a verrry small store, boutique almost. It has all the FP characteristics and decor, like their amazing fitting room. Always love their displays and themes.

I’ll probably stick to buying Free People from Ebay and Nordstrom Rack at lower prices, but it was nice to see the store in person.

Retail Inspiration: Topshop Chicago

The Topshop store in Chicago has a really cool British vibe inside. I was really digging their wooden racks. The clothes themselves were rather expensive so we did some window shopping and walking around. Buntings and neon signs follow…

Round 2: Free People going up tomorrow :)

Retail Inspiration: Dry Goods

March 07, 2012 / Leave a comment?

Happy Wednesday! Very happy it’s the middle of the week already, or finally. As mentioned before, I wanted to make some changes to the blog, start posting more things like inspirations, so it seems like a good fit to start now!

Today I’m sharing a very cool new store that opened in our mall, it’s called Dry Goods. I’ve never heard of it before and looks like they only have a few locations in Illinois and Wisconsin (Midwest is best!) – I would have passed right by it but ended up going in, so glad that I did!

The decor is very lovely inside, from the tiled floor to pretty racks and the CLOTHES! Please excuse the limited amount of photos, as I was very distracted by the merchandise. Everywhere I looked, I liked something else. Amazing selections.

Fitting room above looks like a luxurious bath house, by the door they also have a vintage Singer sewing machine that caught my eye on the way out.

And here’s the kicker — I didn’t buy a single thing! Shocking, I know. But since the quality of products is ridiculously amazing, I will be going back and have declared Dry Goods as my new favorite store.

Since someone has acquired a “new” business, I have found myself drawn to merchandising and retail designs, anytime I’m in a store I look at how things are displayed. Just an additional quirk to add to the list… so expect more of these kinds of posts in the future :)
