Adventures in quilting

November 05, 2012 / 1 Comment

Making a quilt” has been on my list to accomplish for this year and since it’s November I’m cutting in kinda close. I picked out my pretty fabrics and will cheat just a little bit by making a pillow instead.

I may be getting ahead of myself thinking I can just sew this thing without any instructions but I’m going to try. It seems fairly easy and straight-forward, cutting shapes and sewing them together. Wish me luck!

Handmade pom pom garland for Fall!

October 11, 2012 / 1 Comment

Decorating for Fall has been really fun for me this year. I’m hoping to throw in a few more Halloween-y touches here and there, orange and black is a good direction, right?

I’ve seen these cute garland cutouts and might give it a shot!

I thought I posted this but looks like not. I made this pom pom garland with bright colors for above my bed. Using a pom pom maker has been so fun and easy, I might have to create a pom pom garland for every holiday because these things are addicting!

In the works

September 30, 2012 / 1 Comment

Slowly working out some new jewelry pieces. Verrry slowly actually. I ran out of one of my most important materials and I think this also happened the last time. Only one sheet left of shrinkys and surprise – no ink in the printer! Hoping to get those in during the week so I can get a little bit more done. Mess below…

I thought this looked like vampire teeth so I think I’ll name it the vampire necklace! :)

An Insta-update

I’ve had an exhausting day – WEEK actually! I’m ready to just pass out on the couch but first I wanted to make a small picture post of little goings on :)

An outfit I wore this week | Delicious cheese fries! | New phone case that I adore

Made much needed updates to the shop! Very happy with how it’s looking, I found a few lost necklaces and immediately listed them. I have a few more to make, am also waiting for new supplies to get in so I can make different styles. Can’t wait!

Painted triangles ready to be assembled

My mom bought me few storage boxes and now I’m organized!

Last but not least, this is a simple DIY bracelet inspired by this post

Now I’m off to do a quick workout so I can end this day on a positive note. Later!

DIY Tote in progress!

April 04, 2012 / Leave a comment?

Based on my inspiration post on Monday, I am sharing an in progress photo of my UO inspired tote. I think it’s turning out pretty nice!

I chose to buy a pre-made tote and sew on all my ribbons on there, I ran into a lot of frustration using my baby sewing machine, it was much faster by hand!

Today I will put on the finishing touches, I think it needs another strip of some lacey ribbon, I’m also thinking about adding black stripes and chevrons to the sides.

Hello! Just popping in to say I am well on my way with new pieces for the shop. Getting pretty excited about it – I will start listing in just a couple of days!

I’ve had a huge kick of energy due to the slowly warming up, Spring weather – it’s amazing! All I’m thinking is Summer is just a few months away, I have a vacation coming up in May (and maybe a road trip in the future), so needless to say I cannot wait for Summer!

Photo above is a keychain in progress, I think I’m having a little bit too much fun with these little suckers. Made a few and counting :)

PS. Hitting close to 80 degrees tomorrow!!! Love it!

DIY: Handmade Magazine Picture Frame

February 01, 2012 / 9 Comments

Starting off February (!!) with a fun DIY anyone can do! Inspired by this frame from Urban Outfitters. I saw it one day at the store and how easy it would be to recreate, I knew I had to do it! The whole process was a bit time consuming, especially when rolling pages from magazines, gluing and twisting the string.

The final product was so worth it, I love how boho it is! Huge bonus: it didn’t cost me a thing because I had all these materials on hand. Score!

Materials: Cardboard, old magazines, embroidery thread, hot glue, scissors, X-acto knife, ruler, pencil. You may also need: tacky glue for quick hold

Measure a 2″ border all around a 4″x6″ opening (for your picture) – cut out using an X-acto knife

Start rolling pages from magazines (as tightly as you can**) add a dot of tacky glue for a quick hold. Grab embroidery thread, tie on one end and wrap all around the paper roll, tie again at the other end. Continue the process until you have a ton of finished sticks.

Once you have enough sticks finished, start bending them at a 90 degree angle and attach using hot glue, continue gluing all around until finished.

Layer and mix-match size and colors of your sticks, use as much glue as you can so the hold is strong. Glue string to the paper if necessary so nothing becomes loose.

Grab a small piece of cardboard to create the back leg, I bent mine in two places and made sure to make it connected to avoid sliding. Cut two strips for the back channels, insert your photo in the frame easily by sliding in and out.

Finished!

I hope you’ve enjoyed and happy frame making!!! :)

Paper crafts and Insta-spam

December 21, 2011 / Leave a comment?

Happy Hump Day! The past week has been a bit busy, the holiday season has my head all over the place. I’m making lots of progress and brainstorming new projects for 2012!!!

But it’s just a few days away from Christmas and I have snowflakes on my mind – everywhere. I’m a bit obsessed with my Cricut snowflake cartridge (what a great buy!) and cutting snowflakes is a breeeeze! Plus they can stay up all through January :)

Neon snowflake garland // done with the Cricut snowflake cartridge

More snowflake cutouts! // Popsicle stick snowflakes

Tree glimmer!

Doggy love // Lots of rings

We’re having our holiday party and Secret Santa exchange tomorrow at work, fun times! But now I think I need to make more snowflakes and sketch up new jewelry, or better yet – paint my nails! Either way, it’s a chill week :)

Rainy day blues

December 14, 2011 / Leave a comment?

It’s a little gloomy and rainy today, a very weird weather for December. I’ve been a little preoccupied for about a week and I’m finally getting into creating things.

I started some paper projects that I hope to share in the next couple days and also some new bracelets. Still playing around with designs and using buttons to fasten. I can’t wait to make some sets for the shop!

I leave you with a picture of my munchkin :)

(she kinda needs a haircut)

Now instead of working I’ll probably be browsing Etsy for some goodies haha
