Jewelry assembly and DIYs in progress

Hello! Just popping in to say I am well on my way with new pieces for the shop. Getting pretty excited about it – I will start listing in just a couple of days!

I’ve had a huge kick of energy due to the slowly warming up, Spring weather – it’s amazing! All I’m thinking is Summer is just a few months away, I have a vacation coming up in May (and maybe a road trip in the future), so needless to say I cannot wait for Summer!

Photo above is a keychain in progress, I think I’m having a little bit too much fun with these little suckers. Made a few and counting :)

PS. Hitting close to 80 degrees tomorrow!!! Love it!

Teal makes me happy! Looks like Spring and wears great with everything. I’m setting time aside today for a small retail therapy session (woo!) I’ll be looking out for those Spring items. Warm weather cannot come soon enough.

New look!

This is the new layout as promised. I ended up liking the direction anyway and just went with it. It’s a little more condensed and clean.

Can’t wait to start posting more junk :)

PS: Happy Friday!

Retail Inspiration: Dry Goods

March 07, 2012 / Leave a comment?

Happy Wednesday! Very happy it’s the middle of the week already, or finally. As mentioned before, I wanted to make some changes to the blog, start posting more things like inspirations, so it seems like a good fit to start now!

Today I’m sharing a very cool new store that opened in our mall, it’s called Dry Goods. I’ve never heard of it before and looks like they only have a few locations in Illinois and Wisconsin (Midwest is best!) – I would have passed right by it but ended up going in, so glad that I did!

The decor is very lovely inside, from the tiled floor to pretty racks and the CLOTHES! Please excuse the limited amount of photos, as I was very distracted by the merchandise. Everywhere I looked, I liked something else. Amazing selections.

Fitting room above looks like a luxurious bath house, by the door they also have a vintage Singer sewing machine that caught my eye on the way out.

And here’s the kicker — I didn’t buy a single thing! Shocking, I know. But since the quality of products is ridiculously amazing, I will be going back and have declared Dry Goods as my new favorite store.

Since someone has acquired a “new” business, I have found myself drawn to merchandising and retail designs, anytime I’m in a store I look at how things are displayed. Just an additional quirk to add to the list… so expect more of these kinds of posts in the future :)

Dear self…

March 06, 2012 / 1 Comment

I woke up this morning thinking it was Thursday, when in fact it’s only Tuesday! How does my mind think I slept 2 days? I need to set a better bedtime, 9pm sharp.

I started a small assembly line for my triangle necklaces, I’m not feeling on top of the world or anything but progress has been made. Less procrastination and more working! They will be up very soon :)

New blog layout as well, it’s starting to look good again!

What’s in my bag!

February 23, 2012 / Leave a comment?

I’ve always wanted to do one of these posts and figured since it’s been super quiet around here I would share today! It’s been gloomy all week and the snow storm is brewing tonight. Anywaysss here’s what I’m carrying in my bag :)

From top left: My bag (Xmas gift), umbrella that came with the bag (yes, the inside is lined in leopard print!), small notebook for ideas & receipts, my wallet (Target), coin pouch that came with my bag, change & paper clip, set of earrings I took off during the day, a crap ton of pens I must have stolen from somewhere, my iPhone, my iPod, Jergens lotion, Lollia lotion (Anthropologie), my checkbook, two sets of pocket mirrors (the silver one is new), Carmex lip balm and Neutrogena lip gloss, tissues, Ibuprofen, a small USB drive, iPhone charger, hair tie.

Usually I only worry about my wallet, phone and Chapstick – I do not leave the house without them – this must be the crap I’ve collected and didn’t bother taking out. Yikes! Do I really need 5 pens, 2 mirrors and 2 lotions? Probably not…

In other news, I’ve started working on some new necklaces and hope to list them in the shop soon, just like the weather I’ve been feeling extra gloomy so I’m slowly trucking along.

Have a great Thursday night! :)

DIY: Boho Scarf Window Curtains

February 13, 2012 / 1 Comment

I am starting off the week with a fun DIY I came up with just the other day while shopping. I saw all of these amazing printed scarves at our local Discovery and immediately thought they would make pretty curtains!! I went ahead and bought two of the same design and got sewing on my machine. So easy, took literally maybe 30 minutes. Here are the basic two steps:

Needed: two identical scarves (Discovery, $7.99 each), sewing machine, pins and scissors.

Pin a 2″ pocket for your curtain rod and sew carefully on your machine.

That is pretty much it!

Enjoy a new set of pretty boho curtains :)

Happy Thursday! Well finally… I’ve been having an unproductive week. There’s not enough hours in the day! Maybe also because I’ve been watching shows online all week and not doing stuff I’m supposed to (oops!) – needless to say, my mind has been all over the place and I can’t think of one thing at a time. Hello Pinterest!

Cute polka dot on polka dot outfit!

Adorable room decor with large polka dot wall treatment! Colors and patterns to die for!!

And lastly — Polka dot shorts DIY from Delightfully Tacky!

Love this letterpress print!

This bedroom is so dreamy, I want my room to look like this!! (it’s on the list)

And this is what I’ve been watching ALL week – new favorite TV show – Misfits!! I’ve been seeing a lot of gifs and things from this show and I probably should have started watching it sooner. LOVE! Just started season 2 and I’m cracking up like crazy. Totally hooked!

That is all, kinda swamped today so I should probably get back to work…

A Dream Come True…

February 07, 2012 / 3 Comments

Hi friends!!  Ashley here…you probably have forgotten who I am since I’ve been MIA for quite some time! But with the start of the new year brings new goals, projects, and fun things to share with everyone.

A little story…

The past couple months Ive been working very hard to pursue something that I’ve wanted to do for many years, and finally took the jump to making it happen! I have worked at a small local skateshop in my hometown for the past 9 years!!! It didn’t really occur to me that this was something that I’d want to do for a living until I was half way through college. At that point I figured I would just continue going to school for graphic design, since that knowledge would always be useful to me and I enjoy it! After graduating I continued to work at the shop on the weekends and worked two different jobs doing reception and one in the design field.  There was a point when I realized what I enjoyed most was the one day a week that I worked at the shop, and was always dreaming up an elaborate shop of my own.

Long story short…I was given the most amazing opportunity to take over the shop! Im so excited and overwhelmed all at the same but can’t wait to start this journey! Im looking forward to sharing the progress and projects that go into the revamp of the store!

Heres a sneak peek of what Im most excited about right now!!!

My dad discovered this weekend that underneath all this ugly tile and carpet….there’s old wood flooring throughout the store!! You have no idea how thrilled I am about this!! Its going to make such a difference in the shop and I was about to drop some money on putting some in! Sooo pumped its just been hiding there the whole time! ;-)

The shop is full of little surprises and charm! This window was covered ever since we’ve been here! Although its not the best view, and somewhat jail cell looking….the natural light makes me happy!

I’ll keep you updated with the latest news and projects!!!
