DIY Love: make your own dreamcatchers

May 04, 2011 / Leave a comment?

Amazingly fun and quirky dreamcatchers by Rachael Rice, found via the Free People blog. I love all the leather, feathers, beads and even doilies! I have a few of these items laying around and it wouldn’t hurt to have one more dreamcatcher hanging on the wall. I especially love the oversized ones…

DIY: American Flag shorts

May 03, 2011 / 12 Comments

Happy Constitution of May 3rd! ;) in an American way I’ve been working on this DIY for about a week or so. I originally figured I could just buy shorts like the ones below … but definitely not for close to $100! Not excited about that price range, I got some ideas together to paint my own shorts… because hey, why not?

I got all of my supplies, some extra things I thought I could use either way. I chopped off an old pair of jeans I had in the closet and got to painting. Check out more pictures after the cut…

DIY Friday: Celine inspired neon clutch

April 29, 2011 / 1 Comment

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock — you know NEON is in this season like no other. I’ve always been attracted to super bright colors, unfortunately I cannot rock the color orange (as it seems to be the go-to hit color for neon.)

Needless to say, I’m oohing and ahhing for Celine anything, fabulously modern fashion that not everyone can afford. Not anymore! Brooke got her crafty mind thinking to create her own Celine inspired neon clutch. Amazing!

Check out the full DIY here!

This could not be easier! The American Apparel leather pouch is absolutely perfect for this, but also works just as well by itself. Hello! It comes in a variety of fashionable colors but won’t eat up your wallet.

I’ve been bitten by the neon bug so expect more fluorescence in the future ;)

Map letters DIY

April 16, 2011 / 2 Comments

Happy Saturday! Just got back from seeing Scream 4 and it was pretty awesome, looove the original movies :D

Anyhow, today I wanted to share a really quick and easy DIY – Inspired by… maps! This can be applied to so many different things. You can take any paper, posters, magazine pages, and even that spam you may get in the mail. Decorate leftover shoe boxes for storage, it’s so easy! I used this map poster and glued it on a letter I got some time ago, see below ;)

Fringe bag surgery now complete!

April 09, 2011 / Leave a comment?

The huge idea behind this surgery/DIY was to make the strap longer so this adorable bag could be used as a cross-body. The verdict: success! I am pretty pleased with the result, it got a little messy but this is a cute little bag for Summer – I can’t over-stuff it with crap so that’s a plus! haha

Some of my supplies: belt strap, hardwear, pins, glue gun, thread & needle, scissors.

Check out some step-by-step pictures after the cut…

DIY Thursday

April 07, 2011 / Leave a comment?

I’m thinking up a lot of DIYs to catch up on my Year of DIY goals. I’ve been doing some browsing and found these awesome DIY inspirations, sharing a few today…

Potato-stamp DIY dress by Caitlin Mociun

Not exactly a DIY but would definitely be a fun one – look at these shoes! by Kustom Kix

Polymer clay earrings DIY by A Merry Mishap – buy here

Anthropologie inspired DIY salt & pepper shakers by Jen @ MMA Wives

It seems my list is never ending, it’s hard to keep track of all my crazy ideas. Half the time I forget because I don’t write it down. On top of that I’m taking pictures of the necklaces, etc. to put up on Etsy – they have to look pretty before they actually go up!! I’m sooo close to getting them finished ;)

DIY/Surgery lacey skirt

March 31, 2011 / 2 Comments

I originally posted about this DIY idea all the way back in January, I finally got around to going through with it! However the final piece ended up being a skirt and not a dress. I decided making a dress is way too advanced for me, it’s ok to admit it. I felt like tackling a skirt shouldn’t be as difficult.

Before weird XXL lacey-ish sweater/jacket?

March 29, 2011 / 1 Comment

Today’s DIY inspiration comes in jewelry form. While cleaning up some craft messes I stumbled upon some string that was dyed with spray paint – or spray dye – I will be trying to make a new bracelet with them so why not share some really pretty bracelet inspirations like these…

Fringe bag surgery DIY (in progress)

March 22, 2011 / Leave a comment?

I thrifted this tiiiny, wallet-sized fringe bag sometime last year and I never used it yet. That is about to change because I will do some DIY surgery on this baby to really fit into my life ;)

WOW how life changing did that sound?! haha anyyyywaaay — the main reason why I haven’t used this bag (as much as I loooove fringe) is because the strap on it is really REALLY short, what is up with that?! I’m planning on adding some length with a brand new strap and making it a cross-body bag.

Perfection. I can’t wait :)
