I originally posted about this DIY idea all the way back in January, I finally got around to going through with it! However the final piece ended up being a skirt and not a dress. I decided making a dress is way too advanced for me, it’s ok to admit it. I felt like tackling a skirt shouldn’t be as difficult.
Before weird XXL lacey-ish sweater/jacket?

I used an existing skirt of mine as a base for the width and length.

I didn’t take many pictures during my actual sewing process. My sister still has both of my cameras, I just have an old camera that has horrible focusing, but that’s a whole different story. Anyway, it took me maybe an hour and a half to complete the whole skirt. I’m happy with the result, the material is a bit forgiving but it’s imperfect.
Final product

I haven’t figured out how to style it yet… it’s a weird length and puffs up by the elastic band. It’s definitely a layering/belting kind of skirt, it’s a bit see-through as well!
Easy factor:

semi-advanced sewing skills needed

Right?! I think I could re-use all these clothes I don’t wear anymore into something like this :)
